We accept gifts of stock. Gifts of stock carry significant benefits. Your gift of stock supports survivors of domestic violence (click here to find out what your gift will achieve). A gift of stock does not affect your cash flow. Contributions of securities also have tax benefits. By contributing stock that has appreciated in value, you avoid paying capital gains taxes on such stock. You can also deduct the value of your securities on the date of your donation from your federal income tax return (the net value of your contribution is the average between the high- and low-quoted selling price on the date that the securities passed from your control). And finally, a gift of stock may allow you to make a larger contribution than a cash donation would.
Please contact your accountant, tax adviser, or investment consultant to inquire about the details of your gift of stock.
Call the Business Office at 503.640.5352 for more information about donating stock to the Domestic Violence Resource Center.
