Update from the Family Violence Intervention Program
by Sheryl Rindel, LPC, Program Director
We have moved to the business office! We are now better able to collaborate with the Children’s Program, and it’s much more convenient for families to be seen at the same location and at the same time. We will continue to provide services at the Center for Victims Services in the Washington County Courthouse.
All 10 interns from last year graduated successfully, and the last two remaining for the summer completed their work last week. The program has accepted 8 new interns for next year. All but one have either already been trained and are seeing clients, or are in the process of training and orientation. All interns can serve at all 3 locations if needed.
Our Hispanic outreach services, headed by Claudia Gimenez, will be implementing a new program of outreach and counseling services to the Latino community beginning this fall.
We and our clients have assisted the Oregon Department of Justice and the Beaverton Police Department in completing their 3-part DVD series on Oregon Crime Victims’ Rights. The video will be used for training in police departments throughout the state.
