Sponsor & Adopt a Room at Monika’s House

If you’d like to increase your organization’s visibility as a champion for domestic violence survivors we invite you to sponsor the renovation of a room at Monika’s House Shelter.

Monika’s House Shelter is Washington County’s only domestic violence shelter, providing emergency accommodation and other services for adults and children escaping imminent physical danger in family violence situations. It is a 27-bed facility (5 family units, 2 singles rooms) in a safe, confidential location, built with the help of Community Development Block Grant funds in 1999. Named after Monika Voits, murdered by her husband in 1999, it is the last resort of more than 230 victims of all ages on the run each year.
Room sponsorship will entail adopting a room at Monika’s House and providing and organizing for its renovation on a given date this summer, depending on your level of commitment (see options attached).  Currently Monika’s House has a variety of flooring, paint colors, second-hand furnishings, and appliances of variable quality and use.  The Domestic Violence Resource Center is kicking off this drive to ensure that each survivor that shelters at Monika’s House is provided with the most nurturing and empowering environment possible.  All sponsors will be secured by May 31st with scheduled renovations to be completed by September 15th.

Through the generous support of the community we can achieve an up-to-date facility that meets the needs of Washington County survivors and enables them to work for safe, healthy and productive lives.

Make a physical impact in the lives of survivors by providing a place that they can call home as they face their most critical time of need.  Showing your involvement through room sponsorship at Monika’s House sends a powerful message to survivors in crisis: we are a community that cares.  In addition, the Domestic Violence Resource Center will provide all sponsors with opportunities to demonstrate their support through our annual event October 2, 2009, local media exposure (print and web), and announcements to our partners and supporters in the community (press releases, agency newsletter, website and direct mail).  Fill out the Sponsorship Commitment form today and empower survivors in your community by supporting the only crisis shelter in Washington County!

For a packet of room sponsorship opportunities please contact Sarah Keefe at 503-640-5352, ext. 308, or email sarahk (at) dvrc-or (dot) org.
