Batters/abuser intervention groups
All counseling services are available in English and Spanish. We strive to offer both bi-lingual and multiculturally competent services in all of our programming. DVRC does not conduct psychological assessments. Schedule an appointment at 503.521-7997.
Note: We are unable to offer childcare to our counseling clients. Children ages 12 and under cannot be left unattended in our waiting area, and must have an accompanying parent or guardian available at all times during counseling sessions.
Our approach to counseling is client-centered
We strive to provide all of our clients with opportunities to:
- learn that the violence is not their fault and is never okay
- feel safe talking about the violence
- decrease their sense of isolation,
- decrease their anxiety and fear
- increase their sense of security and self-worth
- build a lasting foundation of self-efficacy and empowerment
Our counseling interns and staff come from a variety of master's-level mental health and professional backgrounds, including community counseling, professional psychology, and social work. (For more information about our internship program, click here.) All DVRC counselors also complete a 40-hour Domestic Violence specific intensive training prior to providing counseling to clients at our agency.
